Christmas 2010 was one of the most action packed and exciting one could wish for. Queensland experienced unprecedented flooding – hence the pics of an upturned in the middle of a flooded creek just 2 km from us. We were affected in that we were caught the wrong side of 6 flooded creek crossings at night. We braved the rushing water and walked 6 km by torch light and in the rain to reach the warmth of our own beds. The Echidna puggle was stranded in the middle of a massive landslide. Since the mother only visits every few days to feed her young she was probably OK, but the youngster was washed out of its burrow – in desperate need of rescue. That brought us into contact with an animal carer who specialises in Koala.
